SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) --- A Bridgeton man who was on federal supervised release for selling drugs admitted to violating his parole in a deal to buy hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of cocaine.
U.S. Attorney of New Jersey Philip Sellinger says Lavinston Lamar, 40, pleaded guilty in Camden federal court to the new charges.
Sellinger says Lamar and two other men, Carl Halloway and Marvin Murphy, were involved in a deal with undercover agents at a Mount Laurel hotel room in July 2021. Authorities say Lamar and Murphy entered the room separately, each with bags containing cash for a total of $243,000 to make the buy. Agents rushed in and arrested them moments after the suspects inspected the cocaine and agreed to buy it.
Lamar is facing up to 40 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for September.
