PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Philadelphia plant lover is turning her love for nature into a business in Chestnut Hill. Her shop has been thriving during the pandemic.

Kay Henderson, owner of Sister Sunflower, a new brick and mortar plant shop in Chestnut Hill, said customers are rushing to buy plants during the pandemic.

“People are at home, they want to beautify the spaces they are in and a lot of people are quarantining alone and it’s important to have something to take care of,” she said.

Plants are a natural therapy, she said, and people have started to realize that.

She originally began her business online and said she understands that because of the pandemic, most people will be browsing and buying online.
