PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — New equipment that focuses on fitness and inclusion have arrived at some Philadelphia parks and playgrounds with the aim of getting kids of all ages to be active.
The equipment lets people do full body workouts, like shaping up their core, strengthening their arms and backs, and even getting in some cardio.
“It's a great way to stay fit safely outdoors, it's a great way for parents to get some exercise in while their children play,” said Rebuild’s Kira Strong.
The circuit workouts, which are currently at Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreation Center, Hancock Playground, Moss Playground, and Disston Recreation Center, can be used by beginners and experts.
Most of them also have QR codes, which can provide further workout instructions and guidance.
She added they even worked with the AARP to make sure elderly Philadelphians can access and use the machines.
“It's accessible to everyone,” she emphasized.
Strong recommends people wash their hands, bring sanitizer and wipes for the machines to help get rid of any germs before and after they use them.
