PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Water rates are going up starting Tuesday for many people in New Jersey, but bills may actually go down — at least for now.
New Jersey American Water said most customers will get a $9.88 monthly credit as part of a settlement with chemical companies over PFAS contamination.
That will more than offset the $4-a-month increase on the average customer’s bill.
The credit will be in effect for a year.
New Jersey American Water said sewer customers will see an average increase of $4 per month.
