PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — New Jersey’s PBS station is shutting down due to federal and state funding cuts.
Its operator said the cuts have been “very significant” and it will be forced to pull the plug next June.
Over the summer, Congress ended more than $1 billion in funding to public broadcasting, and the state Legislature cut $750,000 from NJ PBS.
Sen. Cory Booker said the closure of the station “is a loss for all of us who live here.”
A couple Democratic state senators are calling for an “analysis” to figure out how to save NJ PBS.
