Off-duty Philly cop assaulted, robbed of firearm in North Philly

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police said several people were taken into custody after an off-duty officer was assaulted late Thursday night and robbed of his firearm in North Philadelphia.




Police said they got the call just before midnight to assist the off-duty cop near 10th and Brown streets, just a block from Fairmount Avenue. He had lacerations to his head, abrasions on his legs, and his gun was stolen.

The officer, who has not yet been identified, was taken to the hospital and treated for his wounds. He is in stable condition.

Officers identified several of the individuals involved in the assault. They are in custody for questioning and have not been identified.

No charges have been filed. An investigation is underway into what led to the altercation.
