One woman dead after apartment fire in Montgomery County

WEST NORRITON, P.A. (KYW Newsradio) — A 69-year-old woman is dead after a fire ripped through an apartment in West Norriton Thursday morning.

Officials said fire crews got to the scene at the Westover Village Apartments around 8:45 a.m. to find smoke coming from one of the rental units.

They located the woman around 8:53 a.m. and rushed her to the hospital, where the fire marshal said she died despite efforts to save her life. The fire was under control by 9:02 a.m., according to officials.

The woman’s name has not been released.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
