PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — New military-themed license plates are now available to qualified Pennsylvania drivers.
Recent legislation permitted PennDOT to offer three new plates honoring military members and their families: the Air Medal license plate, the Afghanistan and Iraq Veterans plate, and the Blue Star Family plate.
Diego Sandino, PennDOT press officer for driver and vehicle services, said the first two plates recognize veterans’ special contributions during their service. The Blue Star Family plate is available for families of members of the military.
“That includes spouses, parents, step-parents, adoptive parents, foster parents, children, step-children,” said Sandino.
“These plates are yet another opportunity to show our appreciation for the sacrifice of our military members and families,” he continued. “PennDOT is proud to recognize our military community and their accomplishments.”
The plates are $23 each. Eligibility requirements and applications can be found online.
