PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — COVID-19 cases in the Keystone State went down for the eighth straight week.
Across Pennsylvania, there were 1,006 fewer new cases in the seven-day period that ended Friday than there were the week before. The seven-day average of new cases across Pennsylvania was 292, compared to around 5,000 in mid-April.
Statewide the COVID-19 test positivity rate is 1.9%, down from almost 10% in mid-April. Under 5% has been the goal.
In Southeastern Pennsylvania, the counties outside Philadelphia are seeing positivity rates around 1%. Philadelphia is down to 1.9%.
Delaware County's seven-day daily average held around 17.5 per day, compared to 240 in April. The county's positivity rate is down to 1.3%. In April, it was around 9%.
Chester County had 37 new cases diagnosed for the entire week. In mid-April, it was averaging over 200 cases per day.
Bucks County had 60 new cases for the week. Compare that to a spring high average of 278 per day.
Montgomery County’s positivity rate is down to 1.1%. The seven-day daily average of new cases is down to 7. That's down from 228 in April.
