PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Electric and hybrid cars are quieter than fossil-fuel cars, and according to a new study in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, pedestrians are much more likely to be hit by electric cars than diesel ones.
Pedestrian deaths account for a quarter of all road traffic deaths, and the groups most likely to be impacted are children and young adults.
Younger and less experienced drivers are more likely to own electric and hybrid cars, but this group is also more likely to experience auto accidents.
