PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Just three months after a massive rebrand, the Philadelphia Art Museum is weathering another major shift in management.
The museum’s chief marketing officer, Paul Dien, who helped lead the recent changes, has announced he’s stepping down. According to a museum spokesperson, his last day will be Feb. 1.
Dien was hired in 2023 by the museum’s former director and CEO, Sasha Suda. His departure comes just two months after Suda’s replacement Daniel Weiss took the job in December.
Last October, he helped spearhead the museum’s controversial rebrand, from the Philadelphia Museum of Art to the Philadelphia Art Museum.
His resignation comes amid fallout following Suda’s termination last fall. The former chief executive filed a civil lawsuit against the museum in November, claiming wrongful termination, breaches of contract, unfair treatment and abuse.
Suda’s lawyer, Luke Nikas of Quinn Emanuel, told KYW in December that a small group of trustees commissioned a sham investigation to justify firing Suda.
In the filing, Suda requested a jury trial. However, the museum continues to hold Suda to their original contract agreeing to private arbitration.
KYW Newsradio has reached out to Dien and Weiss for comment, but has not yet received a response.
