PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Philadelphia Parking Authority and the city are offering a reward of $20,000 for information leading to the arrest of a man police say shot an on-duty parking enforcement officer last week. Police released surveillance images of the suspect Wednesday.
Just before 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, officers found 37-year-old Timothy McKenzie on the 4500 block of Frankford Avenue with gunshot wounds in the left ear and right shoulder.
Surveillance images from the scene show a man described as thin, between 5’ 9” and 6’ tall, wearing a Navy-blue hooded sweatshirt, green cargo pants, a black mask, gloves and black boots.
"Our parking enforcement office was shot in cold blood in the middle of the afternoon while he was just doing his job," said PPA Board Chair Beth Grossman.
Grossman said McKenzie remains hospitalized in stable condition, and she urges anyone with information to come forward.
"We would really like the help of the public in identifying the shooter, who harmed a dedicated, hard-working employee who, by the grace of God, has managed to survive."
Police say the suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about his identity or whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Shooting Investigation Group at 215-686-8270 or 911.
