PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Philadelphia man is facing murder charges, accused of shooting and killing a FedEx employee in what authorities say was a targeted attack earlier this month in Tinicum Township.
Authorities say that on Oct. 7, Keith Blount, 59, shot Bartholomew Masciulli, 51, in the face as he was sitting in his Jeep in the Cargo City area of Philadelphia International Airport.
The shooting, according to Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer, was in retaliation after a poor evaluation Masciulli gave Blount in August.
After the shooting, Blount took off in a Honda Accord, but was tracked down late that afternoon by Philadelphia police at a location in North Philadelphia.
Stollsteimer said Blount began shooting at those officers who returned fire, wounding him.
Authorities said the gun casings from both the killing and the subsequent afternoon shootout with police were both from the same pistol.
Blount is currently being held without bail. He also faces several attempted murder charges in Philadelphia, multiple counts of assault on a law enforcement officer and related gun charges.
