On Feb. 29, around 11 p.m., police responded to a 911 call about a body on the side of Mount Pleasant Drive near Reservoir Drive. About a half-block away from historic Mount Pleasant Mansion, officers discovered two victims lying next to each other: Krystina Chambers, 38, who had been shot in the head and chest, and Thurston Cooper, 49, who had been shot in the head.
Sources say they believe the suspect, who has not yet been identified, had contact with both victims.
Investigators found spent shell casings close to the bodies as well, indicating an execution-style shooting, according to Chief Inspector Scott Small.
“It appears the shooter or shooters were standing very, very close to these two victims when the shots were fired,” Small said.
As of now, no formal charges have been filed.
