PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Baseball’s best, including six Phillies, will be in the spotlight in South Philadelphia Tuesday night for the MLB All-Star Game, the first time the city is hosting the game in 30 years, and the first game in the history of Citizens Bank Park.
Who’s playing?
Representing the National League are Phillies Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Brandon Marsh, Cristopher Sánchez, Jhoan Duran and Jesús Luzardo.
Sánchez will be the starting pitcher, while Marsh makes his first All-Star appearance in the outfield.
Before and during the game, Philly will have even more hometown representation with some Grammy winners. Singer-songwriter Patti LaBelle will sing the national anthem. R&B group Boyz II Men will perform after the fifth inning for MLB’s Stand Up to Cancer tribute. And, while she’s not from Philly, singer and actress Jennifer Hudson has been given the honor of singing “America the Beautiful” before the game.
There will also be a flyover before the game by the 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard.
