Police: Possible abduction was part of a video shoot for social media

UPDATED: 9:30 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities say what they thought was a possible abduction in North Philadelphia turned out to be part of a video for social media.

The Philadelphia Police Special Victims Unit was looking for two suspects and from a video they released Wednesday. However, several people reached out to the police department and claimed it was all part of a video for social media.

The video shows a mostly red Hyundai with a mismatched hood pulling up to a corner store near Eighth and Diamond streets just before 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The trunk of the car opens, one person gets out of the car and kicks someone or something in the trunk.

Another man then gets out of the driver’s side of the car and knocks on the trunk, before walking into the corner store, which led police to believe a person was held in the trunk.

Authorities have determined the abduction was "unfounded."
