Philly rapper, known for lyrics about gun violence crisis, killed in weekend shooting

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 30-year-old Philadelphia rapper known for his lyrics about gun violence and other socially conscious topics was fatally shot Sunday in Juniata Park.

Police said Qidere Johnson, known locally as the rapper LGP Qua, was shot shortly after 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of M and East Luzerne streets. He was taken to an area hospital by private vehicle and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police have not made any arrests.

A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to submit a tip by calling or texting 215-686-8477.
