PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are investigating a crash in the Rhawnhurst section of the city that injured three elderly people, two of them critically.

Officials said around 5 p.m. Saturday, a 72-year-old man was driving a white 2013 Nissan Pathfinder along Bustleton Avenue when he suffered an unspecified medical episode.

Near the intersection of Bustleton and Afton streets, police said the man’s car veered into the southbound lanes and struck a red 2016 Audi. Investigators said the Audi was parked and unoccupied.

After hitting the Audi, police said the Nissan jumped the sidewalk and struck a 60-year-old woman.

The driver was taken to the hospital and listed in critical condition with multiple fractures. His passenger, a 68-year-old woman, was also critically injured with a head injury.

Authorities said the 60-year-old woman suffered a laceration to the face.
