PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police have asked for the public's help in finding a man suspected of committing homicide earlier this month.
Officials said Francisco Fernandez is wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 36-year-old Darnell Brown on Oct. 18.
The shooting occurred just after 7:30 p.m. outside a gas station near 33rd and York streets in Strawberry Mansion.
Investigators said surveillance footage showed the two men conversing before the suspect shot Brown once in the chest and ran away. The motive for the shooting is unclear.
Brown was transported to Temple Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just before 8 p.m.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Fernandez has been asked to reach out to the Homicide Unit or submit an anonymous tip to police at 215-686-TIPS.
Police have offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Officials noted Fernandez should be considered armed and dangerous.
