PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It took more than two years to open, but the Pullman Restaurant and Bar is moving full steam ahead.
Located at 39 Morris Ave. in Bryn Mawr, steps away from the train platform, the restaurant is modeled after Pullman-brand luxury dining cars during the heyday of train travel.
The site used to be home to the old Tango Restaurant, and well before that, it served as the freight house to hold travelers’ baggage. The restaurant has been renovated and sectioned off into several areas.
“We have our music lounge with our piano. We have music Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and we have our bar lounge. We have the club car, we have our dining car,” explained co-owner Roni Hammer.

She describes the joint as upscale new American food inspired by other cuisines — “a little French, a little Italian, a little Asian,” she said — led by Corey Baver, formerly of Paradiso and Izumi.
The cocktail menu also nods to Pullman’s historic theme: The name of each beverage is accompanied by the year these drinks were believed to have been developed.
“Things like the Side Car 1918; the Old Fashioned 1895,” said Hammer.

In the spring, she said they plan to expand out onto the deck with what’s being called 10/14 Bar on the Rails.
“You are literally right on the rails, and it’s gonna be a nice dining experience,” she said.
