MEDIA, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Protesters marched into the Media courthouse Monday calling for justice for the animals brutally tortured and killed by an Upper Darby woman in her kitchen earlier this year.

“We are here today to speak up for the animals, to give the animals a voice that were brutally tortured, disemboweled, murdered by Anigar Monsee,” said Stephanie Curson with the animal advocacy group Revolution Philadelphia.

Curson, along with other protesters, had signs in hand outside the courthouse reading “Hold animal killers accountable” and “Anigar Monsee is a danger to society.”

In January, 28-year-old Monsee went live on YouTube torturing and slowly killing animals in her kitchen. Police described it as “barbaric and disturbing.”

“She took innocent animals, rabbits, frogs, pigeons, chickens, she slowly slit their necks with a dull knife, and the more people would log onto her YouTube stream, the more she would do to the animals,” Curson said.

“It broke my heart. I just picture what those animals were going through, and how cruelly she just ended their lives for no reason, for social media clout, and it’s just, it’s disgusting.”

Monsee was scheduled to appear in court Monday but a continuance was granted until July 8.

She faces seven years in jail and a $15,000 fine.
