LOWER MORELAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A school bus and a pickup truck collided in Lower Moreland Township, Montgomery County Thursday night. A student was injured and crews had to rescue the driver of the truck, which became lodged under the bus.
It happened around 5:30 p.m. Lower Moreland police responded to the crash at County Line and Buxmont roads. It was a late bus run so not many students were on board, Lower Moreland Township School Superintendent Dr. Dennis Best said in a message to families.
“As with all bus accidents, police and other emergency responders were called to the scene, and students were medically evaluated,” he said. “The LMTSD students involved in the accident were subsequently released to their parents/guardians.”
At least one student was treated for minor injuries, police said. The pickup truck driver, who suffered moderate injuries, was pulled from the wreckage and was taken to the hospital.
County Line Road was closed for several hours Thursday night between Pine Road and Bustleton Avenue as police investigated, but it has since reopened.
