PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia prosecutors say another victim has come forward accusing a former Philadelphia homicide detective of sexually assaulting her — and they believe there could be more.

Last month, a judge upheld indecent assault and stalking charges against Donald Suchinsky for allegedly groping the mother of a homicide victim. Now, he faces new allegations — this time, for rape.

The 58-year-old is accused of having a lengthy relationship with a woman he met through his work as a detective.

“A longer sexual relationship, which he used his position to make happen sometimes via threats, sometimes via quid pro quo,” said Lyandra Retacco, the District Attorney’s supervisor for the Special Investigations Unit. “That was also a family member of that investigation and that was over a course of years.”

Retacco says he is accused of constantly emailing and texting that woman, and then asking to meet up and groping her inside of her car while she was trying to find parking outside the old police headquarters.

The DA’s office would not go into details, and emphasized that these are allegations.

During Suchinsky’s preliminary hearing earlier this month, where the first accuser testified that he put his hands down her pants in a car before an interview at police headquarters, his defense attorney flatly denied any allegation of assault.

Suchinsky is held on $1.5 million bail — he has to post 10% of that.

A status hearing is scheduled for June.
