PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Southwest Philadelphia woman was sentenced Monday for shooting a 15-year-old girl in the head nearly one year ago.
Officials say the shooting happened on April 26, 2024, when Sharnay Lewis' ex-boyfriend's daughter came to her property. According to her defense attorney, Lewis filed for a protection from abuse order against him after being threatened and harassed.
When his daughter showed up that day, Lewis thought she was in danger and fired several shots. Prosecutors say the teenager was running away, and wasn't a threat to Lewis.
The girl was shot in the head and physically recovered, but told the judge she lives in fear every day.
Lewis pleaded guilty a few months ago to aggravated assault. She was sentenced to two years of house arrest.
