MEDFORD, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A fundraiser in Medford is collecting donations to send care packages to U.S. troops in the Middle East.
The event begins at 5 p.m. Saturday and runs through 10 p.m., at the Flying W Airport and Resort. Tickets are $35, and organizer December Giberson Shover said each ticket will help Operation Yellow Ribbon cover the shipping costs of a care package to send troops deployed overseas the comforts of home.
"Things like toothbrushes, placards, beef sticks, hot sauce, Tastykakes," she suggested.

Shover said it is still just as important as ever to show our men and women in uniform that they are loved and appreciated as they serve our country.
Part of the festivities include food trucks, a 50/50 raffle and a few hours with a live band on stage. Stover said if you can't make it but still want to help, you have a couple of options.
"They can always drop off tangible items at our business here, A Rose in December, on 629 Stokes Road in Medford, N.J., or they can always make a financial donation," she said.
"That helps cover the shipping cost. And if we have certain requests, we can always go out and purchase the items and ship them to our military."
This is the second year of the fundraiser, with last year being disrupted by COVID-19.
