SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — New Jersey’s Attorney General is asking for the public’s help in finding a Cape May County man they say failed to appear in court to face human trafficking charges.
56-year-old Kurt Young of Dennis Township is now considered a fugitive after he failed to appear in court. Authorities say he was part of a human trafficking operation that involved a 14-year-old girl being sold for sex.
New Jersey Attorney General Matt Platkin says two co-defendants, Tiffany Davis, and Derek Ross, were sentenced to 15 and 20 years in prison for bringing that child to Young’s home for sex, and Young never showed up for jury selection in his trial last year in September.
Young is facing several charges, including trafficking, soliciting prostitution, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child. Platkin says these are among the most heinous crimes they see.
“We’ve created a new unit within the division of criminal justice dedicated to protecting human trafficking crimes," he said. "The state police have invested significant resources.”
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 1-877-WANTED-2 (877-926-8332). U.S. Marshals are offering a cash reward for any information leading directly to his arrest.
