PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Prosecutors in New Jersey say a man from Lansdowne, Delaware County, shot and killed a woman and her adult daughter during a home invasion earlier this week in Willingboro.
He was arrested for unrelated charges in Philadelphia before being connected to the double homicide.
Burlington County prosecutors announced the arrest of 37-year-old Junior Edwards of Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, and accused him of shooting and killing a woman and her daughter in their Willingboro home on Oct. 30.
When officers from the Willingboro Police Department first arrived at the house on Harrington Circle just after 4 a.m., they discovered the bodies of 33-year-old Catherine Nunez and her mother, 54-year-old Marisol Nunez, in an upstairs bedroom. Both were declared dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators determined that before the shooting, the perpetrator broke a first-floor window to gain entry to the house. A handgun believed to be used was found outside.
Investigators say Edwards shared custody of his 8-year-old son with Catherine. The boy was home at the time of the shootings and was unharmed.
Edwards was initially detained by Philadelphia Police on unrelated charges before being connected to the killings in Willingboro.
He now faces two additional charges of first-degree murder, among others.
