NJ Transit invites South Jersey bus riders to share their feedback

Two public information sessions will be held on March 30

SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) – New Jersey Transit bus ridership is slowly inching back to pre-pandemic levels, and now the agency is looking for feedback, specifically from customers in Philadelphia and South Jersey.

Throughout the pandemic, relocation was common for people looking for more space while working from home, and travel patterns are starting to reflect that as people return to work in offices.

The NewBus BCG program aims to assess current traffic patterns and reimagine 27 NJ Transit bus routes that operate in Philadelphia and the three surrounding South Jersey counties.

Riders in and around Burlington, Camden and Gloucester Counties can sign up for two 90-minute information sessions taking place on Wednesday, March 30 at 2:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., to get an overview of the new project and share their thoughts about what kinds of service improvements customers want.

“We want to be able to best match where our bus service operates, how it operates, the frequency it operates with what customers are demanding of that service,” says NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith.

Ultimately, NJ Transit says the assessment boils down to three things: where people live, where they work, and how they travel. Based on their findings, NJ Transit hopes to use the feedback to design a new system that better addresses the community’s needs as they have evolved.

They also included a two-page fact sheet with the project, which you can read below.
