PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — You’ll find Spread Bagelry at 2401 Walnut St. by day, but starting this weekend, it’ll turn into Cozette Pizza by night.
Bagels will still be available in the mornings, but Wednesday to Sunday evenings from 4 to 9 p.m. will be dedicated to Cozette. Workhorse Brewery Company is also joining in and will serve beers at night.
“The whole program started by giving pizzas to the hospital at Penn during COVID,” said Cozette Chief Operating Officer Brooks Tanner. “It was a big hit. So we’re going to try to sell them in the evening to the community.
“We wanted to do something that really utilized our wood-fired ovens. Those are really magical, and they’re kind of the centerpiece of Spread Bagelry.”
And because of that prime location, Tanner reached out to Lindsey Bingaman, president of the Friends of Schuylkill River Park, and asked to help them raise money during their basketball court reopening for new backboards and rims.
“It’s nestled right off the trail, and we have a patio that overlooks the trail,” Tanner said, so it was a good fit.
Tanner’s son uses that court often, and he gets a lot of visitors to the restaurant from people who use the trail, which is why Bingaman said this collaboration is so important.
“It’s almost reminding me of this location bridging Center City and West Philadelphia,” she said.
