PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Another day, another delay for the departure of the SS United States. The retired ocean liner will now disembark on Wednesday for its final voyage out of South Philly to the Gulf Coast.

The ship was moved Friday from Pier 82 to Pier 80 and was scheduled to start making its way south on Monday, but the ship's conservancy group over the weekend pushed that date to Tuesday because of excessive wind gusts in the forecast. On Monday, the group, again, pushed the date because of "persisting high wind conditions."

It will depart from Philadelphia Wednesday during low tide (around 12:50 p.m.). You can track the ship's journey to Mobile, Alabama, here.

When the vessel arrives in Mobile, it will be stripped of hazardous materials before continuing to a location off the coast of Florida, where it will be sunk to become the world’s largest artificial reef.
