PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — SEPTA Transit Police arrested a man who is accused of stabbing an individual at a station along the Market-Frankford Line on Thursday morning.
Around 7:30 a.m., officials said two men got into a fight on the westbound platform of Allegheny Station in Kensington. The situation escalated, and police said the man stabbed the other, then ran off.
The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition but is expected to survive.
Police were able to track down the suspect, and they arrested him about an hour later. He was about a half-mile away on D Street.
This attack is yet another act of violence on SEPTA in recent weeks, and it has riders like Mary Jones worried.
“All I know is if I got something to do, I get out and get it done and get back into the house. It’s crazy out here in the streets,” she said.
“Just dangerous out here,” echoed Judy Davenport. “You make it out here and you never know if you’re gonna make it back home [safe] or not. … Philly really needs to get it together.”

This is the latest violent incident on SEPTA property in the last few weeks. A 19-year-old was shot Monday night at 15th Street Station on the Market-Frankford Line. A 15-year-old Roxborough High School student was killed on a SEPTA bus last week in Germantown.
The week prior, two 18-year-olds were shot on a bus. Police on Thursday released new surveillance footage of that incident in the hopes of making an arrest.
The video shows a group of young people attacking passengers on board. Police said one of the teens was hitting someone with his gun and it went off, striking the two 18-year-olds in their legs.
