PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Legislation that would have brought school vouchers to Pennsylvania was voted down in a State House Committee Friday afternoon, effectively killing the bill.

The State Senate passed the plan Thursday night. It would have offered students in the lowest-performing schools in Pennsylvania tuition vouchers for private schools.

After the Senate passed the legislation, House Democratic leader Matt Bradford said it would be dead on arrival in his chamber. Bradford followed through on that promise, killing the bill in the Rules Committee, which he chairs.
