PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are searching for at least two suspects who stole a car in South Jersey, crossed over the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, and crashed into an ambulance at 10th and Vine streets in Chinatown overnight.

Authorities said the dark blue sports car was stolen in Winslow Township. Delaware River Port Authority police officers tried to stop the car on the bridge but were unsuccessful. They relayed the information to Philadelphia police.

Just after 1 a.m. on Monday, the car crashed into the ambulance. Then, the vehicle crashed through a fence surrounding a construction site at the corner of 10th and Winter streets before coming to a stop.

Police said at least two people fled from the vehicle.

Three people were in the private ambulance, including a patient, at the time of the crash, officials said. All three were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition.

Officers closed 10th Street at Vine and Winter streets for several hours Monday morning as they removed the ambulance and the stolen car from the scene.

The suspects remain at large.
