PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A teenager was arrested and charged after bringing a gun into a football game at Abington Senior High School Friday night.
Abington officials say a parent attending the game against Cheltenham noticed the student carrying the weapon inside the stadium and alerted police.
When police approached the student, whose identity is not yet known, they found a loaded handgun with an extended magazine protruding from his waist, as well as a second loaded magazine.
Due to safety concerns, the game was suspended.
Police took the student into custody and had attendees leave the stadium in an abundance of caution. No injuries were reported.
The student has been charged with felony weapons offenses and is being held at the Montgomery County Juvenile Center.
