PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Drivers heading from Northeast Philadelphia into New Jersey will once again be able to cross the Delaware River using the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge.

The bridge was closed late Friday evening due to electrical repairs. It reopened around 1 a.m. Saturday.

Officials said the bridge was not closed due to structural issues or an operational malfunction. Crews felt it best to close the bridge in order to perform necessary repairs.

“The repairs were performed safely and efficiently and we’re happy to report traffic and operations are back to normal,” said Bridge Commission Chair Matthew Riggins.

Drivers were being directed to take either the Betsy Ross Bridge or the Burlington-Bristol bridge in order to cross the Pennsylvania-New Jersey state line over the Delaware River.
