PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A teenager has been charged with shooting and killing a 17-year-old football player last summer.
Jesse Allen Jr., 18, was arrested last week in Media, Delaware County. Investigators said Allen shot and killed 17-year-old Zaheem Sabree on June 30, 2024.
Sabree was a rising senior and football player at Chester High School.
Following the shooting, the Chester Upland School District called his death a "major loss" and said he "will be missed by his teammates and coaches who remember him not just as a player, but as a friend on and off the field."
Allen is charged with first-degree murder and related offenses. He is being held without bail at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility.
