PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The 13-year-old girl shot in East Germantown last week was also among the group of teenagers present during the brutal beating death of 73-year-old James Lambert in North Philadelphia last month.
The shooting happened on Osceola Street, near East Rittenhouse Street, just before 7 p.m. Friday. Police said the 13-year-old girl was shot once behind her right ear.
The bullet went through her jaw, but she was placed in stable condition.
No arrests were made and no weapons were recovered, authorities said.
Police sources said the girl is not the one charged with the beating of Lambert but she was among the teens present during the assault.
On June 24 at 2:40 a.m. in North Philadelphia, a group of minors attacked Lambert with traffic cones and other objects. He died the next day.
Only two teens — a 14-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl — were charged with third-degree murder.
There is no connection between the Germantown shooting and the North Philadephia attack.
