PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Three people, including a 13-year-old girl, were shot at two separate parties at Airbnb locations in Philadelphia Monday night.

Police do not believe the two incidents are connected, but there are similarities. In both cases, crowds of young people had gathered at the short-term rental properties.

The first shooting happened around 10 p.m. near Amber Street and Susquehanna Avenue in Kensington. Police said an 18-year-old was shot twice in the abdomen. He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Nearly two hours later, police were called to a house on 29th Street between Montgomery and Cecil B. Moore avenues.

“We found approximately 30 to 40 individuals, both inside and outside of this property, consisting of many juveniles,” said Police Capt. Nicholas Deblasis. “The crowd was dispersed, but while police were on location, they were alerted that there was an individual around the corner who was shot.”

That victim was a 13-year-old girl, who was shot once in the buttocks, DeBlasis said. She was taken to the hospital and is expected to physically recover.

Investigators also learned an 18-year-old was shot twice in the legs at that location. He was driven to the hospital before officers responded. He is expected to survive.

Police were called to the same property the night before due to “unruly crowds,” Deblasis said. Investigators plan on obtaining a search warrant to go through the property.

There have been no arrests in either shooting.
