ROYERSFORD, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Police in Montgomery County are issuing a warning to car owners after three Hondas were stolen this week in Royersford.

The cars were stolen in the area of Roboda Boulevard and Vaughn Road late Wednesday night into early Thursday. Authorities say the thieves used devices that captured and relayed the signal from the key fobs to unlock and start each car.

David has lived in the area for nearly 30 years.

“We all have outdoor parking here. This is the first time … I’m aware of, that any car got stolen. So hopefully it doesn’t happen again,” he said. “So it’s just one of those things I guess everybody’s gotta keep their eyes open and if you see anything suspicious, let people know.”

Police say if your car has keyless entry, you should consider keeping your key fob in a Faraday bag or pouch, a small cover that blocks your fob's signal when you're not using it. You can buy them online for about $10.

If you live in the area, police urge you to review your home surveillance footage to identify any suspicious activity.
