TRENTON , NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — Two people are dead and eight were hospitalized in a shooting at a gathering in Trenton early Sunday morning.
Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora wrote in a statement that it happened just before 12:30 a.m. on the 100 block of Locust Street.
According to the statement, the gathering consisted of around 200 people. Reporting from NBC10 indicates the gathering was for a neighborhood cookout.
The statement from Mayor Gusciora states that nine people were wounded in the shooting. However, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, the number was actually eight.
A 33-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man were killed. Two women and six men were taken to the hospital, ranging from 23 to 43 years old, and are in stable condition.
Police found more than 50 spent shell casings at the scene, and multiple vehicles were hit by gunfire.
