PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Haddonfield, New Jersey woman has been charged with making false statements, after what Cherry Hill police said was a fake report of a police impersonator reaching to grab her during a traffic stop.

Samantha Roman faces that charge after she recanted her first statement about the alleged incident last Monday, according to Cherry Hill police.

She claimed someone in a Ford van caught by a surveillance camera pulled her over, came to her vehicle wearing a police t-shirt and attempted to grab her neck, police said.

Investigators received tips from the public about the Ford van. Authorities said that through the surveillance video, they identified the van as a federal corrections vehicle.

Police said the corrections officers in the van were on duty and transporting a prisoner, and the officers had no knowledge of her complaint.
