PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying two men who robbed several people at gunpoint in South Philadelphia last month.
The first robbery happened on July 30 around 10 p.m. near 15th and Catharine streets. Police said two armed men approached a 68-year-old man and said, “Give it up.” They stole $60 from him.
About an hour later, at 11th and Ellsworth streets, a 31-year-old cyclist was confronted by one suspect flashing a handgun. The second man acted as a lookout.
Police said they took the victim’s backpack, phone and wallet, which had cash inside. Investigators found the stolen items nearby, but the cash was missing.
Then, just after midnight on July 31, a 26-year-old man on South Mole Street was approached from behind. Police said the suspects covered the victim’s mouth, threatened him with a gun, and ordered him to hand over his wallet. There was no cash in the wallet, so the suspects took off.
