Violent Easter Sunday: 1 dead, multiple wounded in shootings across Philadelphia

More than 30 people were shot over the holiday weekend

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — At least one man is dead and several others are in the hospital with serious injuries on a violent Easter Sunday.

The bullets started to fire early Sunday morning with a deadly shooting in Kensington at 4:15 a.m. Police say a 30-year-old man was shot in the back near East Ontario and B streets.

He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead around 5 a.m. Officers have not yet identified him.

A few hours later, and less than a mile away on East Somerset Street, police say three people were shot while outside.

A 21-year-old man was shot six times and is in critical condition. A 33-year-old man was hit at least three times and is listed in critical but stable condition. And, a 26-year-old man was shot several times in his legs, and he is also in critical but stable condition.

Then around 3:15 p.m. in North Philadelphia, investigators say a man, who they’re calling a 30-year-old John Doe, was shot 12 times. It happened on North Bambrey Street, just south of Cambria Street. He is in critical condition.

Also in North Philadelphia, just before 7 a.m., a 21-year-old man was shot once in the leg. He was taken to the hospital and is stable.

A quadruple shooting in North Philadelphia sent four men to the hospital Sunday night. It happened near Orkney and Cambria streets just after 6 p.m. Police say a 38-year-old, a 53-year-old, a 33-year-old and a 21-year-old were all shot more than once but they are in stable condition.

No one has been arrested in any of these shootings.
