PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A large water main broke and flooded a residential North Philadelphia neighborhood Monday morning.
The water main broke around 7 a.m. at the corner of Perth and Thompson streets.
Fast-moving brown water gushed down Thompson and Franklin streets, taking crumbled concrete and asphalt with it.
About 5 feet of water filled the basement of a house, forcing gas and water crews to cut power to neighboring homes.
Nearly a dozen cars were towed away to make room for response crews.
By 9 p.m., water was restored to all homes, according to our newsgathering partners at NBC10.
