PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Are you better off taking blood pressure medication in the morning or at bedtime? It is wise to take medicine at a similar time each day to help avoid missing doses.

Keeping high blood pressure under control can reduce the risk of cardiovascular events like heart attack and stroke. As far as the time of day to take the medications, a large review called the TIME study — standing for treatment in the morning versus evening — has an answer.

These researchers found that the time of day did not matter. Of course, medical science is always changing — a prior study recommended bedtime.

The bottom line: Son't stress over morning or evening. Just take the medications consistently. That is what matters most.
