PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — People living in Willingboro, New Jersey are concerned about their water supply after one of the Burlington County township's wells was found to be contaminated.

That well has been shut down, and officials insist the water is now safe.

The township says it discovered the chemicals, known as PFAs, during a routine check and shut down the well near Sunset Road.

They posted about the discovery earlier this month.

Also known as "forever chemicals," PFA's have been linked to some cancers and other health issues.

Boiling water will not remove them.

The Township is telling people with compromised immune systems, the elderly or someone pregnant or people with infants, that they may be at higher risk than others and should seek advice from your health-care provider about drinking this water.

Officials say the other wells will meet the demands of some 13,000 customers and the water is now safe to drink.
