Woman killed in Philadelphia hit-and-run rampage was mother of three

Adriana Moreno-Sanchez, 31, was identified as the victim on Wednesday morning's Center City hit-and-run.

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police have publicly identified the woman killed in Center City on Wednesday morning in a hit-and-run rampage that extended out into the suburbs.

The victim, 31-yeara-old Adriana Moreno-Sanchez, had been walking home after her shift ended at Steak 48, a restaurant, police say. She was with a co-worker at 15th and South streets at 2 a.m. when investigators say 40-year-old Kareem Welton jumped the curb and struck her down with a stolen car. Welton then made a U-turn, came back and ran her over, according to cops.

She died in the hospital. She was a mother of three, NBC 10 reports.

In a statement, her employer, Steak 48, said her death is "an enormous personal loss to each and every one of us, as our employees are like an extended family to us here at Steak 48. Our deepest condolences go out to Adriana's family and friends during this difficult time, and we are working closely with the Moreno family to offer our support."

On Monday, Steak 48 will host a dinner honoring her life, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the family.

Moreno-Sanchez's co-worker managed to get out of the way and escape serious injury. However, three more people were injured in three additional hit-and-run incidents that morning in Center City, Manayunk and Collegeville, which authorities also attribute to Welton.

The most serious case was that of a 38-year-old man who was out for jog in Collegeville. He suffered a broken spine and leg and rib fractures.

Welton is facing attempted murder charges in Montgomery County. So far, there is no word on charges in Philadelphia.
