WILLINGBORO, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A driver going the wrong way on Route 130 in Burlington County, New Jersey hit a car head-on, leaving one person dead, authorities say.

Route 130 in Willingboro was closed for several hours. Police say the crash happened around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday right in front of an apartment complex and a flower shop, not far from Mt. Holly Road.

The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office says the driver of an SUV was going the wrong way on the northbound side and slammed into a sedan head-on, which burst into flames. Another car rear-ended the sedan, but that driver wasn't hurt.

The driver of the sedan was killed according to authorities. The SUV driver, who caused the incident, was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

Initially, police said it was possible two people were in one of the cars and ran from the scene. However, the prosecutor's office says that hasn't been verified. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information is encouraged to contact Willingboro Police.

Traffic has since reopened in both directions.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
