Structural issues found in a three-story Miami Beach apartment building led to all 24 units being evacuated on Saturday night, according to Local 10 News.

A Miami Beach spokeswoman said Miami Beach Fire and Rescue responded to a public service call at the building, located at 1619 Lenox Avenue, just after 7:30 p.m

The building inspector was called to the scene, and while there, he discovered flooring system failure in a vacant unit. There was also “excessive deflection on an exterior wall,” according to Local 10 News.

“In an abundance of caution, the Building Official has required the vacating of this building until further information can be obtained,” Berthier said in an email to Local 10 News.

There was only one resident who required assistance with relocation, according to Berthier, and the American Red Cross is assisting them.

This is not the first evacuation to occur in the Miami Beach area. Just one day ago, 300 residents evacuated from a condominium building in North Miami Beach after it was determined to be unsafe.

Several buildings have been inspected following the building collapse in Surfside, Florida. Now, in response to the arrival of Tropical Storm Elsa, the remainder of the building is set to be demolished.
