NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Following the CDC's update on Thursday announcing masks are no longer required indoors for those who are fully vaccinated, Trader Joe's has emerged as one of the first retailers to drop its mask mandate.
"We encourage customers to follow the guidance of health officials, including, as appropriate, CDC guidelines that advise customers who are fully vaccinated are not required to wear masks while shopping," Trader Joe's wrote on its COVID-19 page, which was updated Friday.
The update applies to both customers and staff.
Employees will be subject to wellness checks before each shift to screen for potential COVID-19 symptoms.
Plexiglass barriers at checkout counters will remain in place, and stores will continue to conduct enhanced cleaning measures.
